New PalladiumTM Fungicide Offers Unique Mode of Action Against Diseases of Ornamental Plants
New Palladium™ foliar fungicide from Syngenta with a dual mode of action is now registered for use on ornamental crops. Palladium offers both contact and systemic activity against Botrytis cinerea and other foliar and stem diseases.
Palladium contains the active ingredient cyprodinil, which provides a new, systemic mode of action for control of ornamental diseases. It works within the plant’s tissues by inhibiting disease penetration and reproduction. The second active ingredient, fludioxonil, provides contact and long-lasting residual protection on the plant surface.
In addition to Botrytis cinerea, Palladium offers contact and systemic activity against foliar and stem diseases caused by Alternaria spp., Cercospora spp., Myrothecium spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Sclerotinia spp., Sclerotium rolfsii and some powdery mildews.
Additional features include:
· Formulated as a fast-acting wettable granule for easy measuring and plant safety
· Excellent rotational option for resistance management
· Compatible with broad range of tank mix partners
· Economical and effective at low use rates of 2 to 6 ounces per 100 gallons
· Purchases qualify for the 2010 GreenTrust® 365 Purchase Program
“Palladium protects ornamentals in greenhouses and nurseries and on golf courses and commercial landscaped areas from the inside and out,” said Dan Steltz, market manager for Syngenta Lawn & Garden. “It offers growers a new, economical tool for managing Botrytis and other diseases, and we’ve observed both preventive and curative properties.”
As with all products, it is important to read and follow label instructions when using Palladium.
