Series of eight short video segments now available online
·
Syngenta’s process for formulating products
·
Factors to consider when choosing a fungicide, herbicide, insecticide or plant growth regulator
Greensboro
, NC, USA, March 2010
–
Syngenta
now offers its customers an explanation of the science and the ingredients that go into the premium formulations of its control products. The series of eight short video segments, covering topics ranging from the importance of surfactants to the value of long-standing research and development efforts, is available
online
.
The
videos
include information on how Syngenta transforms active ingredients into high quality, user-friendly formulations; the role that various inert ingredients and manufacturing processes have in delivering a product that performs well in a wide range of conditions, and the company’s stewardship efforts to support long-term usefulness of its products.
“We commit significant resources to developing active ingredients and high-quality formulations to help solve customers’ challenges,” said JR James, technical and innovation manager for Syngenta. “Our continual research and quality testing ensures the best efficiency and effectiveness of our products without compromising performance. This video series helps explain how we get there, taking into consideration customers’ practical needs and usage patterns, plus we offer advice on what factors to consider when choosing a fungicide, herbicide, insecticide or plant growth regulator.”
For example, the third installment in the video series describes how the proper amount and quality of inert ingredients that are formulated with active ingredients are critical to the success of a product. The optimal combination of wetting agents, dispersants and suspension aids help the active ingredient crystals go into water and remain in suspension, while ensuring compatibility with other tank mix partners. Other ingredients like preservatives, anti-freeze agents and anti-foam products are needed to deliver a robust formulation that is consistent and reliable.
